YOUR SUMMER READING JOURNAL IS DUE Thursday, 9/8    

DUE 9/8  Complete Summer Reading Business Card:  Create a business card for any character from your summer reading.  Review assingment page for details.  

DUE 9/12  Complete your list of images of "The American Dream."  (You should have at least fifteen.)  Then cross out those you think most Americans cannot achieve.

DUE 9/14  Read Death of a Salesman through page 26.  In your notes, write identifications for the following characters:  Willy, Linda, Happy, and Biff.

DUE 9/16  Complete reading Act One.  Answer the SGQ for Act One.

DUE 9/20  Read through page 89.  Answer SGQ # 1 - 3 for Act Two.

DUE 9/22  Complete Act Two.  Answer remaining study guide questions.

DUE 9/26  Complete SYMBOLISM handout. 

DUE 9/28  Complete at least four quotes/page numbers/significances from DOAS essay record sheet.

DUE 9/30  In your notes, write a 2 - 5 sentence response to numbers 1a, 3, and 5 of your DOAS General Questions.

DUE 10/6  Using textual evidence from the play, complete your DOAS timeline.

DUE 10/10  Complete "What's Important" handout.

DUE 12/14:  Paraphrase the Prologue to Romeo and Juliet.

DUE 1/5:  PERIOD 5:  Read Act II, scenes v and vi and paraphrase the Friar's advice to Romeo and Juliet.             PERIOD 6:  Read Act III, scene i and be ready for a quiz.

DUE 1/6:  Complete timeline of the action of the play so far.

DUE 1/11:  Complete handout for Act IV, scene 1.  Respond to the prompts on the paper.  Write your plan to "save" Juliet on the back of the page.

DUE 1/13:  Complete reading Romeo and Juliet.  Study Midterm Review Sheet.  If you have questions about the exam, today is the day to ask!

SEMESTER TWO ASSIGNMENTS

DUE 1/26:  Enter input on the "Shakespeare in Love" comparison chart.

DUE 1/30:  Learn a joke that uses a PUN in the punchline.  Be able to teach it to someone else.

DUE 2/1:  Complete your HAIKU and SENRYU assignment.

DUE 2/3:  No homework!  WOW!

DUE 2/7:  Write a 16 line poem using alliteration, assonance, and onomatopeia.

DUE 2/9:  Write a villanelle.  Review your notes and the article distributed in class for guidance.

DUE 2/13:  Complete revisions on villanelle.  Write a triolet.  (period 6: also write a limerick!)  Use articles and class notes to be sure you are using the correct form. 

NO CLASS MONDAY, FEBRUARY 13: SNOW DAY!

DUE 2/17:  Complete your poetry guide review sheet.  STUDY!  You will take a test on poetic forms and devices on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17.

BILDUNGSROMAN  (How has Pip developed from childhood to adulthood?  Where is he on his path to being a MAN?)
